Autumn Supper Oct. 11th 2014

The Annual Autumn supper at Umborne Hall  was held on Saturday 11th of October and was attended by a full house of 74 locals of all ages.

The meal  consisted of 2 types of soup (leek & potato & harvest vegetable) a rustic platter ( home-made pate, 3 cheeses (cheedar, boursin & stilton – all carefully wrapped and labelled ) , cob loaves, mackerel pate, salad, coleslaw, homous, pickle, crackers and pickled onions)

rounded off with a wide choice of desserts thanks to our amazing home cooks.

This meal proved very popular with everyone, especially as the younger generation were allowed pizzas! It was also Ted and Eloise’s 12th birthday and Eleanor had made a birthday cake:

All this food was served by waitresses who then set about the mammoth task of clearing and washing up.

There was a table quiz involving matching up 20 fruit and veg with varieties and a cryptic surname game.

( Miltenburgs, Okendens, Wilsons) were the winners with an amazing score of 35 out of 40. Well done.

Eleanor’s higher or lower card game was well supported and raised £57. A bottle of champagne was won by the lucky David Selley!

Antonia organised the raffle and thanks to her superb effort, £158 was raised. Thank you also to those who brought prizes and puddings.  
The best drawn Harvest picture was won by Ella, Katie and Tara. The home produce harvest basket display was won by Pottlelake Produce – i.e. the Shepherd family who produced a stunning display.

Such a large crowd created a most enjoyable atmosphere in the hall so thank you to everyone for getting involved and hopefully having a lot of fun. The sum of £590 was raised for Umborne Hall funds.
