We had a new event coming to Umborne Hall on Saturday 24th November. We heard folk duo Blackheart – a male/female all-acoustic modern folk duo who have been touring professionally both in the UK and abroad now for four years.

Their show featured all original songs, the voice of Chrissy Mostyn, plus Richard Pilkington on acoustic guitars, mandolin – with a strong emphasis on harmony.

This really was a night to remember! 37 of us made it to the hall in atrocious conditions and were treated to an excellent folk concert by Blackheart. Easy to listen to and they had a very engaging style.
We were all very grateful to Sue for arranging the event and sorting out the food during the interval. A profit of nearly £100 was made for the hall funds. The warm and relaxing atmosphere inside the hall hid the truth of what was going on outside. We soon found out that it would be impossible for most of us to drive home. Who came to the rescue so we didn’t have to bed down for the night at the hall? Chris Solway and his trusty tractor who ferried 18 of us through the floods and gushing torrents at Easy Bridge to dry land the other side.
Well done Chris and many thanks.
