Duck Dash & Dog Show Photos

Duck Dash and Raft Races:

These took place on Sunday September 2nd at Umborne Hall from 3pm to 6pm.

Over 60 people turned up to watch plenty of duck races ( thanks to Antonia & Angela for selling them all afternoon and along with the ice-cream sellers Jan & Lynne, raising the sum of £175).

Neville was in charge of releasing the ducks and caring for them on their
journey ( smaller photos can be enlarged by left clicking on them)

whilst Chris made sure none of them escaped at the end!

There were also pony and trap rides (courtesy of the Selleys) raising £18.

Eleanor & Bernard organised the children’s races – there were sack races, 3-legged races, potato & spoon races, apple-bobbing and skipping. Rob did a fine job on the PA system.

David Wills kindly organised the welly wanging: best youngster was Ella Magrane, best female Antonia Cheeseman who retained her title and best male was Jonathan Batten.

Novelty Dog Show – yes, a new event for this year -and a popular one at that.
Our local famous vet Richard Brain was the Judge and the awards were as follows:

Shiniest Coat:  Izzy Trenchard:
Cheekiest:  Arthur Hutchinson
Best 6 legs:  Boo Thomson
Most like their owner: Ben Coman
Best Trick: Gatty Wilson
Cheekiest cross breed dog: Taz Selley

Best in Show:   Lola Magrane

Refreshments: Cream teas were prepared and served by Geraldine, Teresa and Katie and the scones were made by Liz Gosling, making a profit of £96. Our thanks to them and to the crowd for eating them!

A lot of the events took place in the field adjacent to the main car park – our thanks to the Bird family for aloowing us to use their land. The weather was somewhat overcast and drizzly at times, but it could have been worse!! In total the sum of £260 was raised for the hall funds.
