Our annual Steam-up was held on Saturday June 30th at 2pm in the magnificent grounds of Liz and Tony Gosling’s house ( Penventon) in Shute. We were treated to Liz’s scrumptious cream teas and rides, much to the delight of young and old alike, on Tony’s miniature steam train. There was a raffle, a cake stall, ice creams for sale and an artist’s table.
We had a record crowd on a sunny, pleasant day ( how many of those have we had this summer?) bringing in a record profit of £630 for Umborne Hall funds. Our thanks go to Tony & Liz plus all the other helpers who made this such a successful event.
A video of the steam-up can be seen on this link:
– our thanks to David Mitchell for this.
We also had Ian Barker’s Traction Engine – OK, a 4″ scale Burrell “Showman’s Engine” to be precise!
