Yoga Day at the Hall – Saturday March 10th

The title of this event at Umborne Hall is:  “Spring Awakening” – a yoga day with Di Magrane (BWY)and Viv Hampson (BWY).

The event is on Sat March 10th between
10am and  4pm.

Yoga days allow you to deepen your experience of yoga. They provide the opportunity for time out of our busy lives to focus on our internal world of mind, body and breath.

Yoga jiva was founded by Di Magrane. She is a qualified British Wheel of Yoga teacher who completed her training with Margaret Woodley. Her teaching is influenced by many styles that she has practised since starting yoga 18 years ago. These include the yoga developed by Krishnamacharya and his son TKV Desikachar, as well as Iyengar, Ashtanga and other teachers of Hatha and Ashtanga yoga. Her first teacher was Jane Sleven.

Di is a warm and enthusiastic teacher whose group yoga sessions provide a supportive atmosphere where the uniqueness of each student is celebrated. While application and focus are important, the relaxed atmosphere means there is always room for laughter and friendship!

No class is ever the same and over the course of the term students will explore a theme and/or work towards a goal. Postures are taught in different ways to maintain freshness and continually challenge students. Within each class, students can expect asana, breath awareness/meditation, attention to the bhandas (energy seals) and relaxation.

Di is also a state-registered occupational therapist (OT) who works as a consultant on a part-time basis. She is experienced with working with people with physical, psychological, learning and sensory impairments and their carers. One of the core skills of an OT is to adapt an activity or change the environment to enable the individual to do as much as possible. These skills are carried over into her yoga teaching practice to ensure that individual needs are met and students are taught safely.

Di Magrane creates a comfortable, warm supportive environment. Participants are asked to bring a small vegetarian dish/item to share at lunchtime. Yoga equipment can be provided if required, however please bring a warm blanket for the relaxation. Places are limited so please book in advance to confirm your place. Tel. 01297 35197
