Short mat bowls became official in November 1989, although the beginning really started in 1988 when Devon Sports Council launched Action Sports to encourage the older population to &#8220;get off your armchairs?&#8221;  By fund-raising events such as Table top sales, concerts by Tina and the Corry Dale singers and jumble sales etc. we were able to purchase our own mats and other equipment in April 1991, at a staggering price of over £1000, thus saving Action Sports the need to bring their equipment to Whitford. ...]]></description>

		<description><![CDATA[12th Night at the Hall     &#8211; 7th January 2012
We were delighted with the huge turn out for this annual event in the hall &#8211; 75 locals turned up for an evening filled with food and fun. We had four wonderful people from Shute Stables and even a couple from as far away as Whitford! &#8211; what a grand way to start the new year!

		<description><![CDATA[Weather in December
This was quite the mildest  December since before 2005. My
records are not complete enough before that  year to say for sure, but it
looks as if December 2003&#8242;s temperature was  higher than 2011. My lowest
figure in December 2011 was -2.9C on the 18th,  which also gave the
lowest day maximum of the month at 7.5. In December 2003  the lowest
reading was -1.9C. Last month, the average maximum temperature  was
slightly over 11C; the minimum just under 3C, giving a mean of 7C.

The AGM will take place at the Hall on Tuesday 24th January 2012 at 8.00pm:

Both have confirmed that they will be willing to stand again.

In addition, with the completion of the new hall, the following will be retiring and not standing again:
