Umborne Ug 10k and 2.5k Fun Run results 2019

The Umborne Ug was blessed with a beautiful sunny, warm evening, great for the spectators but slightly sticky for the competitors.The top 3 prizes in the 10k race were all Axe Valley Runners, not surprising as there were 31 runners from this amazing club out of 100 entries.

The first Shute Festival of Literature and Landscape proved a huge success, drawing over 200 visitors to two days of stimulating and inspiring talks, film showings, workshops and discussions.
The festival, which took place over the weekend of 29th and 30th October, brought together an eclectic range of speakers, ensuring visitors enjoyed a rich variety of topics in the intimate and beautiful surroundings of Shute Church, lit professionally for the occasion by Axe Valley student Jed Holmes, of Simply Stage.

We ended up with a full house of 68 people and had a most enjoyable evening. Each table had a food box of 4 different cheeses, pickles, coleslaw, potato salad, pickled onions, 2 sorts of pate and bread and biscuits to share and for pudding there was apple crumble! Thank to all those people who prepared the food and served and cleared.

Duck Dash & Raft Races:

Our annual Duck Dash and home made raft races took place on Sunday (7th) September at 3.00pm – at Easy Bridge, Umborne ( N.B. not at the hall this year as there is not enough water for the ducks to swim in!) The weather was dry, warm and sunny – and locals came and enjoyed the end of the summer.

Our annual Duck Dash, Dog Show and much more took place in beautiful summery weather at Umborne Hall on Sunday 1st September.
Thank you so much to many local people for your input from 3pm to 5.30pm. Although numbers were down on previous years ( I wonder why? holidays, beach?) it was very enjoyable thanks partly to the fine weather. Thank you duck sellers Antonia and Angela,
