The theme of the party was P for Party and we had nearly everyone dressing up, pirates, punks and princesses and much more  – and 43 locals ate, drank and danced to their hearts’ content. The food was beef and veggie chilli prepared with love and skill by Henry and Neville. …

[7 Oct 2016 | Comments Off on Umborne Weather Report September 2016 | 42 views]

September will be remembered for generally benign conditions; more of a summer month than an autumn one. Nationally, it was one of the warmest on record, with some exceptionally warm days in the South East in the middle of the month. Infact, the year’s highest temperature of 34+C occurred at this time. It is easy to imagine that if the same combination of conditions had occurred a couple of months back, we might have broken through the 40C barrier for the first time in recordable history.
Back here in Umborne, we …

On Friday September 2nd we held our annual Duck Dash at Easy Bridge in Umborne. We were pleasantly surprised by the turn out as it appears that nearly the whole community of the valley came and enjoyed themselves.

[9 Sep 2016 | Comments Off on Umborne August Weather Report | 37 views]

August 2016 started with a thoroughly wet day, with 24.7mm being recorded for the 24 hour period up to 1000 on the 2nd. This amount proved to be just over half the entire rainfall total for the month (48.9mm). The day’s total was about four times the entire July rainfall figure too.  This day was the only one of the month when the temperature failed to reach 20C. Three quarters  of the remaining total of rainfall in August fell between the 18th-20th. As a result, the prevailing picture was of …

On Saturday 11th of June, to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday and to do some useful excerise, 15 people of all ages ( from 12 to 68!) met up at Umborne Hall at 2pm on a fine day:
We set off on a route which we thought was going to be about 10 miles – but due to a misunderstanding it was actually 10 miles to the cream team stop at the …
