Our annual Duck Dash and home made raft races took place on Sunday (7th) September at 3.00pm – at Easy Bridge, Umborne ( N.B. not at the hall this year as there is not enough water for the ducks to swim in!) The weather was dry, warm and sunny – and locals came and enjoyed the end of the summer.
Antonia and Angela sorted out all the duck races including the finale and they alone raised £80 – well done and thank you. Neville and Chris were in charge of all the ducks:
Rafts: they were mini rafts and  had to be home – made. We  had some impressive creations and the winners  this year were Ted and  Sam :
Excellent Cream teas were available thanks to our skilled catering team of Teresa and Geraldine, helped by a few others and they raised £40.
There is welly-wanging organised so well by David Wills
with 3 categories – 1. Under 16’s winners were Ben and Ella ,
2. ladies winner yet again was Antonia – can anyone beat her?
and 3. the men’s winner was the beardless John Pearce.

A dog show organised brilliantly and with a lot of fun  by Alex and Richard Brain –
categories were:  Best in show (Izzy & Sophie)  Basic Obedience (Willow of course – who else! & Rick),
   Best Rescue (Boo & Russell),
Most Appealing Eyes, (Diesel & Katie)   Waggiest Tail, (Lola & Di)
Best Trick  (Sky & Clare) (all these apply to the dogs not the owners!)
&   Most like it’s owner – yes Sizzles and Mike Wingham -( no more comments about sad eyes, wet nose and smelly coat please!)
although Cherryl tried the obedience task:IMG_0640
Thanks to all who took part and especially to Alex and Richard for so much enjoyment.
Drinks were also available thanks to Cherryl and Mike – thank you.IMG_0641In total the sum of £157 was raised for the hall funds. Well done and thank you to those who worked so hard to make this a success.
