Woody’s 8 – run and walk

April 29th at 11.00 am

Starting from the hall, Woody’s 8 was a low key, informal multi-terrain run/walk of around 8 miles. It consisted of mainly footpaths and tracks, with some short road sections. With an easy route to follow, it took you around Shute woods and returns back with the finish at the hall – all of this designed by Geoff Woodward.

A route card was  issued on arrival. All the tricky sections were  clearly marked on the course. There was also be a help-yourself water stop on the route (thanks Steve) and refreshments and a BBQ (sausage egg & bacon baps) available at the finish (thanks Eleanor, Liz and the gang)

It is difficult to imagine worse weather conditions on Sunday for the Woody’s 8 run and walk from Umborne Hall – it was exceptionally cold, wet and windy. Despite that, 31 brave souls tackled the 8 mile course and lots of Kimmo and Steph’s local friends turned up for bacon butties and lots of cakes. The amazing sum of £570 was raised for the 3 charities: Elf, LamAction and Help for Heroes – ie. £190 for each one. We were delighted by the community’s  response yesterday and a huge thank you to all the helpers ( cake bakers, cooks, servers etc.) Thank you so much. Eleanor, Rick, Geoff & Steve.
