Working party & BBQ
We are planning to hold another work-in at Umborne Hall this coming Sunday (2nd Oct) from 3pm. The weather forecast looks excellent so we thought that we would do about 3 hrs of painting the outside of the hall and finishing the posts and rail by the stream. At about 6pm we would light the BBQ (Rob providing) and eat and have a few drinks till whenever. For the work aspect please bring work clothes and your favourite paint …

Our annual Duck Dash and Raft Races were held at the hall on Sunday 4th September at 3pm. To say we were lucky with the weather is an understatement as, just as we were finishing, the heavens opened. During the event the sun did go in and the wind did get up and didn’t we all notice the drop in temperature! However, much fun was had by one and all.

August completed the picture of a poor summer. Everybody,
nationwide, has been commenting on the lack of sunshine and sustained
settled weather, and the statistics have borne this out. Actually,
August started ‘well’ with the 2nd proving a warm day with the month’s
maximum temperature of 26.8C. Coincidentally, the same date last year,
saw that month’s highest of 25C!. During the month, there were a
handful of warm days when strong sunshine was able to make an impact,
but far more memorable were three dismal days in the second half …
