The Umborne Ug 2011
Over the last few years, many of you have been involved in this annual event, starting and finishing at Umborne Hall.
The date this year is Saturday 11th June at 6.00pm. – please note the different day and time.
The Umborne Ug is a 10k race which attracts runners from far and wide to enjoy the undulating delights of our East Devon countryside. The main 10k run (over 16’s only) starts at the hall at 6.00pm. This is followed …

Thought you might like to send the word round the valley that the garden shed thieves are back. They broke off the locks on two of our sheds last night and got away with a few things. John Hewson found his jet washer at the bottom of their garden this morning. For whatever reason they left it behind, thank goodness. After nearly 10 years in re-building and restoration in Shute, the Goslings successfully took their newly completed 1918, 3 ton Dennis Army Lorry from the First World War on the London to Brighton Run last Sunday. They were awarded the silver cup for the “Best Dennis”. The run of some 53 miles took nearly six hours to complete.

April Weather Report 2011
Everybody will be aware of how amazingly quickly Spring has
unfolded this year, due to all the warm and sunny conditions that have
predominated over the past weeks. Significant too was the lack of
rainfall – just 12.8mm, falling on six days; the wettest day being the
30th. due to the thundery downpours that occurred in the afternoon. I
made the total 4.1mm, but other observers have recorded quite double
that – always the case when you get these conditions. This fall had the
